Dotcomsport has more than 200,000 users in 23 different countries. Everyone has their own experience with the system and communication with Dotcomsport. Today we meet one of the users of our Club Management System Dotcomclub: Wim Hagenbeek of ASV Dronten. We asked him a few questions about the partnership with Dotcomsport and how he feels about it so far.
Wim has been a youth/senior trainer at various clubs for over 20 years. He is currently working on setting up ASV Dronten and uses Dotcomclub for this, among other things.
The beginning
[Dotcomsport DCS]: “Wim, how did you and/or ASV Dronten come into contact with Dotcomsport? How did that go?”
[Wim Hagenbeek WH]: “Years ago I attended a sports fair, a KNVB meeting for license points. Johan Henkes was also present here and that is how we came into contact with each other. At that time I was working at another club and after that I nominated Dotcomsport at my new club, ASV Dronten.”
[DCS]: “Let’s start where it all started. How did you and/or ASV Dronten come into contact with Dotcomsport? How did that go?”
[WH]: “Years ago I attended a sports fair, a KNVB meeting for license points. Johan Henkes was also present here and that is how we came into contact with each other. At that time I was working at another club and after that I nominated Dotcomsport at my new club, ASV Dronten.”
[DCS]: “And how long have you been using the system?”
[WH]: ”ASV Dronten will now be using Dotcomclub for the 3rd season and I had been using it for 2 years at my previous club. So in total I have been using the system for 5 years.”
[DCS]: “So you actually took the system with you to ASV Dronten.”
[WH]: ”I have indeed nominated Dotcomsport to ASV Dronten.
System experience
[DCS]: ”Is Dotcomclub used well/a lot by everyone?”
[WH]: ”Dotcomclub is not optimally used by everyone at the moment. We notice that it is sometimes too complex for trainers. That’s why we now have conversations with you to simplify things a bit. In general, we also only use the player tracking system.
[DCS]: “How do you think that happened? Is it the implementation within the club?”
[WH]: ”It’s not so much that it is due to the implementation of the system or that it is actually too complex, because I just think the system is good and also user-friendly. There are several reasons that the system is not optimally used by. First, you have a rotation of the trainers. Trainers come and go. Some trainers leave after 1 year, so it becomes difficult to really use them. Second, you have the background of the trainer. Are you dealing with a father of one of the players or a trainer who wants something, a contract trainer? Finally, you have the factor of interest. The trainers are always informed about how we work. Then it’s up to them whether they want to use it or not. Some don’t like working or don’t see the benefit of it, so they don’t work with it. Then they also have to make themselves accountable to the parents.”
[DCS]: ”What is your experience of Dotcomclub so far? Is it exactly what you expected?”
[WH]: “I am very satisfied with it. I find the system very user-friendly. You can delve very deeply into, for example, video analytics, which will certainly help you as a team. We only use Dotcomclub for the selection of teams. It is very easy to make analysis by means of statistics and it works very practically. During conversations I always take the analyzes with me, I put everything on the screen. In this way you can account to the parents and explain why he or she does not play or plays little. So I think it’s user-friendly, practical and a good player tracking system.”
[DCS]: ”What are the experiences of the trainers/teams using the system?”
[WH]: “Very good. They also like to check things for themselves and they also use it in the individual conversations with the players. We also always evaluate the system with trainers, to see if there is anything they run into and whether there is something better or easier.”
Communication/support experience
[DCS]: ”What is your experience of communication/support with Dotcomsport?”
[WH]: ”The communication/support is very good. Dotcomsport is very responsive. I also say to every trainer: “If you want an immediate answer, you have to call them and they will answer right away. Send an email and you will receive a response within 24 hours.” That is also something I think is very good.“
[DCS]: ”Are there other things that you run into or perhaps wanted to know sooner?”
[WH]: “No, not really. The only thing I can blame myself for is that I had a much bigger picture in mind than what was ultimately possible. I saw all the possibilities I had with the system, but in the end it was too ambitious for the teams/organization. My learning moment is that I should have looked more closely at my organization and what was possible. Look at the level of the trainers and see what works, because in the end they have to do it. I think that a BVO, where everyone takes it very seriously, can benefit a lot from this.
[DCS]: ”How would you describe the collaboration with Dotcomsport?”
[WH]: ”I am very satisfied with the collaboration with Dotcomsport. The system is user-friendly, practical and a good means of communication to communicate with the parents and the players. We are always well & quickly helped by the employees.”
We found it very interesting how our customers experience the system and the cooperation with us and to see how we can still help each other.
